and Wes was on a Men's Retreat to Utah for the weekend.
(It was amazing that he got an opportunity to go! With summers off, I've gone often in the past for a weekend away with women from church. I'm always greatly blessed with my time with my sisters in Christ and time soaking up God's beautiful creation in the mountains. Wes' schedule doesn't easily allow for this and so he has had to decline the many invitations he's received over the years. This time it just happened to work out. *thanks God!!*)
It wasn't easy being a single mom for the weekend with a sick little guy...
and Wes felt guilty for being gone...
but God firmly placed on my heart that He was in control and Colton's fever didn't come as a surprise.
This gentle reminder gave this Mommy and Daddy great peace and the ability to truly love where He placed us for the weekend...even if it was miles apart.
God is so good.
This is the first time Colton has been sick...sure a cold here and there over the past 16 months but never something more than a runny nose and cough. We have been so blessed with a healthy little boy!!
Look at God's timing...it's summer! And I am home... no need to stress over finding a sub or writing sub plans or tons of things to do upon returning to work. I get to be here.

Little boy blue decided to welcome summer vacay with a midnight to 3 am party. He was wide awake and just not interested in sleeping. Double the coffee today!
So, Colton has a rash that is contagious. :(
After the party in his crib last night...he napped for 4 hours and 30 minutes today. I should have slept too...but grocery shopping, post office, and starting a new book called my name. (I enjoyed a little bit of freedom to go since Wes got home yesterday...it felt good to go!!)
