35 weeks preggo.

Monday and Tuesday I was feeling a bit of braxton hicks or stretching on scar tissue (the doctor said). So, no time like now to get the baby's laundry done and our hospital bag packed. If you'll recall...this was not the case when Colton was born. I was a bit caught off guard thinking that all babies arrived on their due date and not a moment earlier. Well, this time I've got our bag ready, baby clothes ready, and now I need to pack Colton's bag (for while we're in the hospital).
It's a blistering 118 degrees today and I'm 35 weeks pregnant.
Air conditioning, ice water, and indoors are my friends in this summer heat. I like living in Vegas the rest of the year--just not during these summer months.
Now I see the doctor every week and he tells me the baby is measuring great with his head  down and his heartbeat is 154 bpm.  The c section has been scheduled for July 23rd at 7:30am. We need to be there 2 hours prior. Yes, early...but I doubt I'll sleep much prior.

Firefighter Tanner

These are pictures my Dad sent of Tanner's graduation on Thursday.
So proud of my brother for his accomplishments and finding a profession he loves.
Sending much love from Vegas to you!

our week @28months

Colton was still recovering Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so we hung out around the house and didn't do swim lessons. Wednesday night we went to Andrea's to hang out and the kids played. Thursday and Friday he returned to swim class.
It's incredibly warm...112-118 degrees this week so if we do anything it happens in the morning and come home for lunch then nap for Colton and rest time for me. The afternoons tend to get a bit long with a toddler that has so much energy, yet we manage and find creative, cool things to do indoors. :)

My friend, Amy (pictured here), invited us to join the Summer Play Dates group.
Last week we bowled, this week we painted pottery. Next week is a movie...Colton is too young for a theater, even though Momma is craving movie theater popcorn!!
Colton and I both love the play dates. It gets us out --but right back into air conditioned places--and doing new things. It's a great summer.

Special treat at Einstein Bagels before painting pottery.
We were both hungry after swim class. :)

The bargainer.
The deal had been one fruit snack after swim class. Today he did a great job grocery shopping with me so I let him have a fruit snack in the van. BTW, I didn't give into this cutie pie. We had grapes instead of one more. :)
I adore how intent he is on showing "one more". top left picture is him trying to get his fingers to do what he wants them to do.

sick little guy. @28months

We had a sick little boy last weekend. :(
His fever started around dinner time on Thursday and it didn't stop rising until it hit 103.8 on Saturday evening.
After calling the doctor at midnight on Friday when it was 103.5
to a doctor's office visit to be told it was a virus and possibly roseola if a rash shows up later
to the fever breaking on Sunday at 1:00pm
to a rash (sure enough!) Monday morning
to the rash spreading all over his body by Wednesday
....it's been a long week of our little guy not feeling well.
Friday  morning snuggles with Momma.

he was interested in playing outside Friday morning for about 20 minutes. Then he wanted "couch. Momma." to rest.

Friday night slept with Daddy in the recliner starting at 7:30pm.
I got up every few hours to give him fever reducing medicine and take his temperature.
Poor little guy.
Wes told me the next day, " I knew Bugs didn't feel well and I felt so bad for him. So when I checked on him at 10pm and he was wide awake I asked him if he wanted to rock with Dadda and he just nodded yes."
What a sweet Daddy!!

We watched hours of Thomas the train and Imagination Movers since all he wanted was to be held on the couch.

Saturday he slept on Mommy all day.
So difficult when Colton refuses to take any medicine.
We tried bribbery. Nope.
We tried tricking. Nope.
We tried pleading. Nope.
We tried forcing. Nope.
We tried hiding it in milk. Nope.
We tried hiding it in juice or soda. Nope.
We tried hiding it in yogurt. Sometimes. But only if he was hungry.
A tad frustrating.

Sunday morning (left) asleep on the couch and on Mommy.
Sunday evening (right) happy boy once the fever broke!

Colton fell asleep holding onto his bus Sunday morning while snuggling with Daddy.

Sunday afternoon.
Doesn't this just break your heart??
It did ours. So hard when your baby is sick.

Sunday evening.
You can tell he feels so much better. And that he had lots of experience with the thermometer over the past few days.
He wanted to take his own "tem-r-chure".  Such a cutie.

Sunday before bed.

summer time! @28 weeks.

This week Colton had swim lessons at 9am and it worked so much better with our schedule. Well, kinda. Mommy and Colton were very social this week with lots of fun activities after swim class so we still were racing to get home for nap at a decent hour. But it's summer! And it was such a great week!
Monday I had accidentally left some gummy life savers on the counter  during Colton's nap.
He had 4--and saved this last green one in his hand for over an hour. I thought it was adorable.

He colored & held the green "can-nee".
He had a snack.
He played cars.
He watched a tv show.
And still...the "can-nee" stayed put in his cute little hand.

Colton's dinner date.
Tractor.

"Let me see."
Self portrait with the tractor.

"Tractor couch. Sit 'ere."

Colton is forever asking me to draw "Momma. Dadda. Toltin. Baby."
This evening he asked me to draw "Fia and Dan." (Sophia and her brother, Daniel).
Then he wanted me to "Draw Moley." (Kristi).
As I'm drawing he says "big hair". So Kristi gets big hair--aka long hair.
Then I draw one mole on her chin.
Colton says, "no Momma. Two moleys. Two."
me: "Yes, Colton, you're right. Aunt Moley has 2 moles."
Such a smart little man. :)

Had to throw this in....
Colton and Sierra at her birthday party last Saturday.
So stinkin cute--look at his tongue sticking out. Think he saw the cake. :)

Tuesday we went bowling after swim class with Amy and Travis.
So. much. fun.
Colton would push his ball down the ramp. Turn to me, sign and say, "more ball please!"
Then he'd take turns with Travis--thankfully it was just these 2 boys on this lane. I don't think Colton would have had much patience if he had to wait too long.
"Tavis turn. Tolton turn. G'job Tavis. G'job Tolton!"
Wednesday we went to the splash park with Sierra and Monica to celebrate Monica's birthday.
After swim class we enjoyed muffins at the Reunion Trails Park and tons of "splash! water."
Colton: "Where See-er-a go?" Then he'd chase after her.
He adores his sweet friend.
(Colton had called Sierra "Da-Das" for the entire year. Then last Saturday he said "See-er-a" at the baby shower. So sweet!)

Thursday we went to Andrea's to have fun playing with Liam's trains, cars, and in their small swimming pool in the backyard. I forgot to get a picture...I was too busy gabbing with my friend. :) The day before and the remainder of Thursday Colton talked about nothing but "cars. Thomas. choo choo. 'iam."

Friday we were supposed to go to the splash park with Amy, Andrea, and kids but Colton had a fever. :(

In the midst of it all....Wes is starting the 3rd and final summer for Week of Hope. Tuesday he dropped all the items we've been storing in the garage (thank goodness...now more space for baby stuff!!) off at the church. Wednesday morning he met with the summer staff. Thursday he took his Memorial Day weekend comp day and helped the summer staff get things situated at the church and made a huge Costco run. (So thankful he did this. I shopped at Costco with the summer staff last year and had Colton in tow. It was rough.) This year's summer staff are the sweetest married couple--Kristin and Paul. We had them over for dinner Thursday and Friday night. Saturday morning before work, Wes went again with them to Costco to finish up the items needed for the week.

Phew. It's been busy and so fun. Have I mentioned how much I love summer??
We can't wait to see what God has planned for this final summer for Week of Hope in Las Vegas. Big things. I just know it.

happy Father's Day 2013 @28months

hand cart rides from Daddy around the garage.
Colton had a runny nose and cough this weekend so we stayed home from church. Didn't want to be those parents who brought their sick to the nursery at church. ;)
So, thanks to my motivated husband....everything is ready to be moved to the Week of Hope site this week, I sorted through the school items I brought home, 4T clothing from Amy is sorted and stored, and we went through shoes for Colton. Then we moved to the office...which will eventually be Colton's new room with a big boy bed but it is currently housing baby stuff. We sorted, tossed, organized, and moved more things. It was a very busy morning and big helper Colton was in the midst of it all. :)

Happy Father's Day to Wes!!

a little chill time in the afternoon before our friends came over for dinner.
I love how Colton plopped down right by Daddy to play cars.

this is the text pic I sent to my Dad.

Sprinkled with Love.
A "sprinkle shower" is a light version of a baby shower. With having baby number 2, and he's a boy, we have a lot of things. There are just a few things we'd like to get: a double stroller, an Ergo baby carrier, and what new baby doesn't need diapers! So...that's what this shower was...a light dusting of gifts with gift cards to go towards some bigger items we need.
