It's good practice to affirm others, and Colton has caught on to this extremely quickly. Lately, Ariane and I would tell Colton, "you're a good kid Colton" whenever he would do something that makes any parent proud (which is almost anything except 2 year old temper tantrums). What Colton has started doing is coming up to each of us at random times, patting us on the back, and saying "dad, you're such a great guy", or "mommy, you're such a great girl". Makes our heart melt each time he affirms us.
